Dr. Thomas’ medical journey was initiated with an MBBS degree from St John's Medical College, Bangalore, in 1974. His skills in psychiatry were honed with an MD from the National Institute of Mental Health And Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore in 1983. He has also accumulated additional qualifications- MNAMS from National Academy of Mental Science, in 1982 and a DPM from NIMHANS in 1979.

His illustrious career started as Tutor, Department of Psychiatry at St John's Medical College and then became a Senior Consultant In Psychiatry at Manipal Hospital, and Mallya Hospital Bengaluru.
